The chawan originally hails from China and has been used in Japanese tea ceremonies since the 13th century. Traditionally it is wide and stable cup made for whisking matcha tea. 

This stunningly simple Chawan is a perfect size for holding in two hands and savoring your Matcha experience. It is also the ideal size for whisking your Matcha, giving plenty of room to whisk the powder without making a mess. It's made on pottery wheel out of finest porcelain and comes in pair with asymmetrical plate that can hold your matcha whisk or favourite cookie. Decorated with golden brush strokes
